Last week Def Jam Records celebrated a new generation of rising young artists at an exclusive Upfront event for top media and influencers in NYC, entitled “On the Verge” at Kola House in the Meatpacking district. The Def Jam Upfronts featured breakout performances from this year’s group of up-and-coming artists signed to the label including: Troi Irons, Kacy Hill, Dave East, Amir Obe, Earl St. Clair, and Bibi Bourelly.
Def Jam CEO Steve Bartels hosted the event with the label and industry luminaries. Each artist performed two songs, some of which were never released before tracks being heard by the public for the first time ever. Singer songwriters, Bibi Bourelly (who has also penned hits for Rihanna, among others) ended the night after performing her record titled “Sunshine”. The other formidable artists cerebrally lyrical, passionate and music virtuosos blazed a trail to set a paradigm for new artists to follow.
